The Coffeehouse Theater 

Hello, CalArts School of Theater!

For the uninitiated, The Coffeehouse Theater is the school's primary student-run performance space. This means that, with assistance & guidance from the CalArts School of Theater and faculty mentors, The Coffeehouse Theater is the spot on campus for student-produced performance! This is your opportunity to take ownership of your artistry and push your collaboration/interdisciplinary skills even further! 

The Coffeehouse Projects are an exciting opportunity for a one-week residency in the Coffeehouse Theater to produce your own independent project. A Coffeehouse Project can be just about anything, whether that be a play, musical, or one-person show. Original work, published piece, or a new adaptation. Comedy, Drama, or anything in between, The Coffeehouse Projects are truly a sandbox of space for all. 

To be considered for this residency, all potential projects must submit an application for review by the CalArts Coffeehouse Committee, a group of experienced student curators dedicated to  shaping and guiding the Coffeehouse Theater Season.
