What makes the California Academy’s coral reef a good home for fish?
Students will explore through close-up observations of aquarium animals and creative play in our Philippine Coral Reef Amphitheater.
This field trip and accompanying activities support aspects of the Next Generation Science Standards.
Kindergarten
Disciplinary Core Ideas: ESS3.A: Natural Resources
Crosscutting Concept: Systems and System Models
Days: Mondays - Thursdays; November-February
Program Times: 10:15am, some flexibility in start or end time can be requested, but is not guaranteed.
Duration: 35 minutes of hands-on fun, including close-up observations, movement and creative play!
Location: Our educators will meet your class at the Alligator Swamp and guide them to the Philippine Coral Reef where the program will take place.
Additional Supports: This program can be taught in Spanish or Chinese. Additionally we use inclusive instructional design. Please reach out to us if there are specific accommodations that would help your group engage with the activities. therockprogram@calacademy.org
Transportation: A Guide to Securing a Paid Sponsored Bus for San Francisco Unified School District.
