Penguins:
Will You Be My Valentine?
Grades K-2: Interactive livestream
Overview
Our penguins hold a very special place in the hearts of our staff and visitors!
In this YouTube Live event, students will get into the Valentine’s Day spirit! Get an insider's look at our penguin colony and how they care for their eggs and chicks, with the help and love of Academy biologists. We will take a live look at biologists passing out special valentines. At the end of the program get a sneak peek of our newest and cutest members of the colony!
Collaborate with us! Submit your penguin questions by 12pm PT on Friday, February 10, to let us know what your students want to learn about.
Extension activities for students
Teachers can find optional extension activities that are designed to be self-directed by the students or used as class group work and maybe built upon by the teacher if they desire.
How does it work?
This program lasts approximately 30 minutes, is taught by a team of professional educators, and is broadcast to multiple classes at the same time via YouTube Live.
Students will interact with the educators through kinesthetic activities and by submitting their penguin questions in advance.

Sorry! The Academy cannot control your district’s security settings.
To confirm that you can tune in live, try streaming our Live Penguin Cam. If your device can see the program, you should also be able to screenshare Academy livestreams to your students.
If you or your students’ devices cannot see the LIVE YouTube programming, you can consider using the livestream recordings, which will be available at the same URL immediately following the event.
Our Distance Learning programs are designed so that students can tune in asynchronously, too, by watching the recordings and participating in interactive aspects such as Mentimeter polls and Padlet student submissions.
If you or your students’ devices cannot access YouTube at all, check if they can access the embedded video Recordings on this website.
