Our cherished marquee, Claude the alligator with albinism, is reaching a remarkable milestone—he's turning 30! Join us in celebrating Claude’s special day as we reflect on his extraordinary journey to becoming the Academy's beloved symbol, nurtured with love and dedication from our scientists and fans worldwide.
This celebration is a heartfelt tribute to embracing our identity and celebrating what makes us unique and exceptional.

Leave a birthday greeting, sing a happy birthday song, or text a birthday card to Claude to (415) 841-3895. We will share it with Claude and post it on his birthday board!! You can also add directly to the online board by clicking the below button:

Take a closer look at Claude's 3 pictures and try to answer the following questions. Bonus if you can provide an explanation

This program lasts approximately 30 minutes, is taught by a team of professional educators, and is broadcast to multiple classes at the same time via YouTube Live.
This program also works well for classes that meet asynchronously because the recording will be shared.

A week before the session, registered parties will receive an email containing the unique YouTube Live destination for the broadcast. If you registered on behalf of multiple classes, forward this along to your buddy teachers.
We highly recommend testing—in advance of the program date—whether the device you plan to use can access YouTube Live. If you can see our Live Penguin Cam, you should also be able to watch other Academy livestreams.
Please note that the Academy cannot control your district’s security settings.
If you or your students’ district devices cannot access YouTube Live or YouTube videos, you can instead play the embedded recording, which we will post within 48 hours of the broadcast.
