Good Evening Raiders,
We are almost ready for you! Today, teachers spent time ‘digitizing’ any learning materials that weren’t already up and running in Google Classroom. They learned Zoom too. A big thank you to all the Raiders who helped us practice. You ROCK!
So, here’s what you should expect. By the end of the school day tomorrow, every teacher will communicate with all the students in their classes. Each teacher’s plan will be a bit different. We agreed today to do a slow start so you are not overwhelmed. Online learning can feel challenging when you first begin. As we roll out this new way of learning, we are going to focus on Advanced Placement Courses, Dual Enrollment Courses, Courses that end with a Regents Exam, and any class required for this year’s class of 2020 to graduate on time. Based on your schedule, we know that each student’s workload will be different. You may have one course that requires your daily attention while others meet less frequently. Your teachers will communicate course expectations with you. Check your email!
You should also know that we care about you! As we design your learning experiences for the next few weeks, we will remember that this is new to you. We ask you to remember that this is new for us. Like you, we all feel a little upside down and sideways. Don’t hesitate to lend a hand with the technology or give us feedback about how things are working. The next few weeks will be successful if we work together.
Next, let’s talk about some housekeeping items. As teachers communicate course material requirements, you may need something from school. Please call Mrs. Voos at 585-538-3483. Leave a message in case she’s helping another student. Since you can’t come in and go to your locker, make sure you call ahead! When you call, we will collect the items you need from your locker or a classroom. Mrs. Voos will work with you on a pick up time. Just drive up in the bus loop and we will bring your materials right to your vehicle. For those who need evening hours, we will be here Wednesday evening from 4-6. Just let us know what you need so we have it ready for you!
Should you have any questions, please feel free to call me 538-3483 or email rchenaille@cal-mum.org. Communication is key, especially in times like these. I have no doubt that your teachers will help you move forward. If there are circumstances that are getting in your way, please know that we are staffed here at school to help.
Just let us know what you need!
Dr. Chenaille
