Emma Kane is a painter, ceramicist, and printmaker from Indianapolis, Indiana. Having lived for almost eight of her formative years overseas in China, Emma enjoys using her art to connect with others who have similar life experiences. She employs various media from paintings, prints, and ceramics, to convey themes centered on vulnerability and emotional expression. Nature, and the everyday faith journey of fellow Christians are topics Emma engages in with her works. Currently, she attends Cairn University where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Arts. She has taken the opportunity almost every semester of her time at Cairn to exhibit works in the student fine arts exhibitions. In 2023, Emma was honored to be chosen by the Faith and Liberty Discovery Center to complete a mural about the Constitution that centers on her chosen core value: hope. The completed mural was displayed for several months outside the museum in Philadelphia, until it was taken down at the museums closing.
The gentle swaying of tall trees in the breeze, the symphony of birdsong on a crisp morning, the great roaring of water as it dodges stones in a river, the world around us is filled with so much beauty. My works as an artist have always drawn from nature, from the peace I feel in its midst. In a world so filled with chaos and destruction, I seek to in my pieces draw the viewer back to the beauty of nature, and in doing so drawing them back to the Creator of the universe. God created the world so that we may know him, and there is so much in nature that he gave us through Natural Revelation so we may know him better. These concepts have shaped the Aesthetic that drives me in my creative process as I form ceramic wares, paintings, and prints. Art is my way of honoring the creative talents God bestowed on me, and calling others to stop and look at the beauty of the world He created for us.
