Since English is the language of instruction at many reputable Turkish Universities, it is essential that students demonstrate competence in English.
It is always accepted to present a valid English Proficiency Exam Result such as TOEFL or YDS with some minimum score requirements varying from institution to institution.
Each university also offers their own institutional language exam at the beginning of the first academic term. When the students pass the exam, it means they are eligible to start the first year at their own departments. If they cannot pass, they are required to study at the English prep program.
The exams aim to assess students’ competency in English, focusing on the academic productive skills they will need in order to complete their studies at the University. They commonly contain 4 sections: Listening, Writing, Reading and Speaking.
