6th Grade Choir is an introductory class to choral music where students learn what it means to be part of a vocal ensemble. Students who take choir in 6th Grade are more prepared for choir in 7th and 8th Grade, as well as at the high school level. We work on foundational vocal and ensemble skills. Students are introduced to vocal technique and music theory concepts. We also build on their rhythm and sight-singing skills. Students in 6th Grade Choir will have 1 out-of-school performance and 2 performances that take place during the school day. These performances are called "informances" where students showcase the learning process in a low-stakes environment to prepare them to take the stage in the final concert of the year. Students in 6th grade will also have the opportunity to perform in the Middle Solo and Ensemble Music Festival, the UW-Eau Claire Middle-Level Honors Choir, and musical production.
7th and 8th Grade Choir is an intermediate-level class where students build on their skills learned in 6th Grade Choir. Students in 7th and 8th Grade Choir work diligently on improving their vocal technique and learn more advanced music theory concepts. They also take their rhythm and sight-singing skills to the next level. Students in this ensemble will have 3 out-of-school performances and 2 performances that take place during the school day, which are the Veteran's Day Program and the Large Group Festival. Students also have the opportunity to perform in the Middle School Solo and Ensemble Music Festival, UW-Eau Claire Middle-Level Honors Choir, and musical production.
