About Me

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and express my excitement about working with you this year. This is my 16th year in education and my 3rd year at Southwood. I earned my Bachelor of Arts, Master of Education, and Master of Educational Leadership degrees from LSU-Shreveport. My certifications include Educational Leadership, Reading Specialist, Secondary English, and School Librarian. I have worked as a teacher, Reading Interventionist, Master Teacher, and Content Coach.

I am the mom of two boys, Josh and Skyler. They keep me busy! We are superhero geeks and love attending comic cons. We also enjoy taking road trips to explore new places. Our wanderlust leads us on fantastic adventures!

I love teaching English because I love literature and language. I believe students can grow and develop by examining the issues we cover in class. I work diligently to ensure that they will be able to make real-life connections to the texts so they can find value and meaning in our readings. I hope they will grow to love reading as much as I do!
