About the Teacher

HOWDY Partners!

My name is Mrs. Janet McCrevan, and I am thrilled to be your 2nd grade teacher at

South Highlands Elementary Magnet! I have taught for 22 years in Birmingham,

Alabama; Jacksonville, Florida; Frisco, Texas; and Shreveport/Bossier, Louisiana. Over

these 21 years, I have had a wonderful time teaching Kindergarten, First Grade, Second

Grade, and Third Grade. I received both my Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in

Early Childhood & Elementary Education from the University of Montevallo in

Montevallo, Alabama.

As you have figured out, I am not a native Louisiana girl! I grew up in the small town of

Wagarville, AL with my parents and sister, Sonya. After focusing on my career for a

while, I married my wonderful husband, Deverron, and we were blessed with our

beautiful daughter Gabrielle, who is a student at University of Arkansas.

Teaching is in my blood, as my mother is a retired teacher! Because of this early

exposure to the classroom, I learned to love teaching at an early age. As a young child,

I developed a love for teaching and I KNEW that teaching is what I was born to do!

My favorite things to do in my spare time are spending time with my family, traveling,

decorating, shopping, and cooking.
