Delicious and Nutritious meals FREE to all children, 18 years and younger. See below for additional information, locations and times.

Following recent changes from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Elk Grove Unified School District (EGUSD) Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) is expanding access to free meals to all children 18 years and younger, regardless of school enrollment. Meals will be provided to all children that participate in the curb-side or mobile meal service at no cost. This will remain in effect during Distance Learning.

Children do not need to be present as long as parents/guardians have received the proper validation. Validation received since the start of the 20-21 school year will continue to be honored. To receive a validation form, parents/guardians must either bring the child on the initial visit or provide documentation of said child (i.e. school record or childcare documentation). Proof must include the child’s name.

Elk Grove Unified School District Curbside Meal service:

Two pick up days a week, Tuesdays and Fridays:

  • Tuesdays, families will receive breakfast and lunch for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

  • Fridays, families will receive meals for Friday and Monday.

Families can choose between two meal pick up times:

  • Early Service Window: 6:45 a.m. – 8:00 a.m.

  • Midday Service Window: 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Meal services offered at Cosumnes River ES (on Tuesdays), Pleasant Grove ES (on Wednesdays) or C.W. Dillard ES (on Thursdays) will remain the same.

Families can pick up meals at their school of preference, from any of the sites listed below, but are only eligible to pick up meals at one location, during one service window.

Elk Grove USD Food & Nutrition Services Guidelines for Meal Pick-up:

General Guidelines:

• Stay home if you are sick.

• Wear a face covering over your nose and mouth in order to protect others.

• Practice good hand washing hygiene.

Meals are for any child, 18 years and younger, regardless of eligibility for the Free or Reduced Meal Program or school of attendance.

Meal Distribution Sites For families picking up meals by car:

• Do not park or get out of your car to pick up meals.

• Have your window rolled down to be ready to communicate the number of meals needed.

• Whenever possible, FNS staff will provide meals by way of a cart. Driver or passenger, depending on location of cart, will reach out and take meals off the cart.

• For sites where cart service in not available, FNS staff will hand one side of meal package to out stretched arm of person in car. The goal is to eliminate as many “touch points” as possible. For families walking with children to pick up meals:

• Please remember to practice social distancing and line up 6 ft from the designated pick up spot. Remember to also wait 6 feet behind the person in line ahead of you.

• FNS staff will call you up to the table to collect your meals.

• If your children are walking to the site on their own, please remind them of the importance of social distancing.

• If you are walking, please leave the school premise as soon as possible.

For both meal service options, children must be present or validation must have been met to receive meals without the child present. Children must be present for the initial validation process.

This program will be solely for the pick up of meals. Meals will not be consumed on site. Families are encouraged to continue to be proactive in reducing the risk of COVID-19 by not congregating at the school site once meals have been distributed, continue to wash their hands often, sneeze or cough into a tissue and stay home if they are sick.
