The California Black Women’s Health Project (CABWHP) is the only statewide, Black-women-led nonprofit solely dedicated to uplifting the health and wellness of California’s 1.2 million Black women and girls—from preconception to aging—through advocacy, education, policy, and outreach.
Mutual aid is the practice of communities coming together to meet each other’s needs through care, trust, and shared resources—without hierarchy or dependency on outside institutions.
In Black communities, mutual aid has always been a cornerstone of survival and self-determination—from cooperative economics and church giving circles to neighborhood babysitting networks and health collectives. These traditions of care remind us that we keep each other safe, fed, and whole.
