STAR 360
Reading and Math tests for all students grades TK-11
Reading and Math tests for all students grades TK-11
ALL Students in grades TK-11 will be asked to participate in Star 360 assessment.
Grades TK-K: Star Early Literacy only (includes math)
Grades 1-11: BOTH Star Reading & Star Math
Star 360 is an adaptive online assessment for math and language arts given to your student by you, in the comfort of your own home. Each part of the Star 360 assessment takes only 20-30 minutes to complete.
Students will take it at the beginning of the year within two weeks of enrollment and again in the winter and spring.
The Star 360 assessment provides insights and support for each student’s grade level that can be used for guiding instruction. Teachers will provide parents with the results of Star 360, so you can work together to create a personalized learning plan for your student. If you choose not to use the results that is fine, but we still encourage your participation for the continued support of our school. The assessment data collected is critical and a required part of our WASC accreditation and charter renewal process.
Which STAR tests does my student take?
What is the difference between the STAR reading and early literacy assessments?
If your child needs to take a break or needs more time for a question, they can pause the test by selecting Stop Test in the upper-right corner of the screen > then select Resume Later. When the student logs back in and starts to take a test, it asks you for a monitor password. Please type admin.
***A paused test will automatically be erased if not completed within 8 days.
Select a day when your child is well-rested and does not feel rushed. It is important for you to encourage your child to try to do his or her best on the assessment. Advise your student(s) that they may come across questions they do not know, and that is okay.
Take a break between assessments. Take a few hours or days apart. Please make sure they do not do too much at one time.
Due to the nature of this style of testing, it is important for your student to take this on their own without any help or coaching. If you are sitting with them and know they are just guessing and don’t know the answer, it is better to mark the wrong answer. That way, the program will not increase the difficulty of the questions.
