"I love building supportive connections on campus through compassionate, meaningful interactions which is why I love being apart of Active Minds. I'm deeply interested in mental health and enjoy sharing tools and resources that help people. Outside of work and school, I enjoy writing songs, designing posters, and weightlifting. Most of all, I cherish spending quality time with friends and family and expressing myself through art and music."

"Mental health and overall wellness are super important to me, which is why I love being part of Active Minds. You can usually find me journaling, jogging, doing yoga, or curled up with a good book (preferably in a cozy coffee shop!) I’m also big on hiking, baking treats, and hanging out with animals. I’m always down to chat or just hang—hope to see you at one of our meetings!"
Active minds is a national nonprofit organization with chapters/clubs in schools nationwide. An active minds chapter's role is to "serve the needs of their communities and create cultures that are more supportive of mental health through policy change, promotion of services, awareness and community-building events, social connection events, and more."
The founder, Alison K. Malmon lost her brother, Brian, to suicide in 2000. She started Active Minds because, "after my brother’s death, and knowing how preventable it was, I resolved — no matter what — to do something to change the way we approach mental health in this country.
Our message is mental health needs to be talked about as easily as physical health.Only then can we bring suicide and mental health into the open so no one struggles alone.
