I was born on Dante Alighieri's birthday in New York Hospital. As soon as I was old enough to take the bus alone, I visited The Metropolitan Museum after school every week, in particular the powerful Rembrandt portraits. Through four years at Princeton University (A.B. '87), I studied Italian Renaissance art with Patricia Fortini Brown and made the friends of a lifetime. I earned a law degree from Brooklyn Law School (J.D. '95), which empowered me in interpreting medieval notarial documents for my dissertation. During my doctoral studies at Columbia University (Ph.D. '08), I earned a Certificate in Medieval and Renaissance Studies. Now I incorporate art history through the ages into my language and literature classes, as well as my publications. I love finding new songs, flavors, photos and words to bring to my students.
