The Organization

Ya'ateeh. C 4 Ever Green is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that calls the Utah portion of Diné Bikéyah our home. Our mission is to encourage cross-cultural practices for sustainable living beginning with our homes. C 4 Ever Green was established to bring awareness of the ongoing illegal dumping and burning of trash. How this affects our natural resources, our range land, endangering our farming areas, Indigenous food, medicinal and ceremonial plants, including our health.

Our efforts are ongoing to uphold our mission to protect our invaluable resources and fight against cognitive dissonance. We encourage land advocacy and foster healing through our traditional understanding of Hózhó náhásdlíí’. A collective voice is stronger than a single voice.

TIME LINE

2019 - Establishment - local community members saw the impacts of tourism and negligent behaviors regarding waste. To address this issue a Trash Pick Up event during Earth Day week was initiated. This brought local community members of the Mexican Water Chapter, Utah sector, and the Red Mesa Chapter Utah Sector together to begin cleaning up roadside trash that accumulated over the years.

2020 - The second annual Trash Pick Up event was another success and it enticed leadership involvement. The organization cleaned along Navajo Route 35 five miles before the Red Mesa Chapter then onto Route 5058 to San Juan County Road 442 to HWY 191 ending at San Juan River. Another route was also addressed from HWY 161 near County Road 5089 back to San Juan County Road 442. The Families of the Lamemans, Warrens, Begays, Yellowmans, Benallys, Redhorse, and others volunteered beginning in the morning and ending in the late afternoon. To show their gratitude C 4 Ever Green did a giveaway. Active community members involved with the clean-up won prizes donated by local organizations. COVID-19 took away our ability to gather but it didn't community members from cleaning around their homes and along their roadways.

2021 - Third Annual Trash Day Pick Up and Earth Day week-long event along the same routes as 202o. More community members were involved. This yearly event showed how resilient our community members are and it reminded them to continue protecting Mother Earth.

2022 - Fourth Annual Trash Day Pick Up and Earth Day event was another success. At the end of the event, more communities wanted to get involved. C 4 Ever Green Collaborated with the Red Mesa Chapter again for their support. They provided the bins to collect household trash only. This year made us aware that we needed to address white waste also. The community was thanked for their involvement with an appreciation luncheon and grill. C 4 Ever Green decided to become a nonprofit organization at the encouragement of community members.

2023 - C 4 Ever Green becomes an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The fifth annual Trash Pick Up Day and Earth Day event welcomed several community involvement from the Aneth Chapter, Red Mesa Chapter, and Mexican Water Chapter. More community members, tribal officials, and local government employees came out to pick up trash. Another luncheon and grill was hosted by C 4 Ever Green and Red Mesa Chapter to show their appreciation for all involved. Another successful year in the books!
