Principal’s Foreword
As we move towards the end of 2021, I want to thank everyone for their ongoing support – our pupils and former pupils, parents and carers, teachers, support staff, Governors and sponsors.
This booklet is a public celebration and acknowledgement of the success of our pupils and of the work of all those who have helped them, especially their teachers and parents.
Unfortunately, due to the pandemic we have not been able to hold our annual Prize Night ceremony again this year. We are living in unprecedented times and the priority at the moment is do everything we can to keep our school community safe. It has been lovely to speak less formally with our past pupils who came in to collect their prizes and to have socially distanced photographs taken.
We are proud of all our Post 16 and GCSE students. 2020-21, despite everything, was a very successful year in terms of academic performance. A high percentage of last year’s Year 14 students were awarded Further and Higher Education places and our Year 12 pupils also achieved very commendable GCSE results. The pupils can be confident that although their teachers generated centre determined grades, there was a robust process put in place and previous data used which was congruent with the final grade awarded.
Behind the headline results there is a great range and depth of achievement, inside and beyond the classroom, much of which this booklet records. I am confident that the class of 2021 will progress still further and contribute greatly to society just as many of our past pupils have already done.
I would like to pay tribute to the commitment and professionalism of all the teachers who afforded our students outstanding opportunities to help them ‘grow’ and become the exemplary young people we are all so proud of.
This booklet is therefore a celebration for all who are associated with St Ciaran’s and I hope you are as proud as I am when you see the wide range of successes achieved.
I wish you and your families a Holy and safe Christmas and may we all look forward to a happy and, above all, healthy New Year.
Fortis in Fide
