Religious Studies GCSE Specification
Year 11 and 12 students follow the CCEA specification.
What we study at GCSE
We follow the CCEA Specification which consists of two written externally assessed examinations, each worth 50% of the total mark for the subject.
There is no controlled assessment in this subject.
There are two assessment objectives:
Describe, explain and analyse using knowledge and understanding (AO1); and
Use evidence and reasoned argument to express and evaluate personal responses, informed insights and differing viewpoints (AO2)
UNIT 7 - Year 11 - Philosophy of Religion
UNIT 2 - Year 11 - The Christian Church with a Focus on the Catholic Church
UNIT 6 - An Introduction to Christian Ethics
Topics covered in Year 11 include: The birth of the Church, Church Government, Worship in the Catholic Church, Sacraments, The Role of the Church in Contemporary Society, OR The existence of God, Nature of God, Problem of Evil & Suffering, Experiencing God and Life After Death.
Topics covered in Year 12 include: Personal and Family issues, Matters of life & Death, Bioethics, Contemporary issues, Modern Warfare
Resources
Students will receive a wide range of resources whilst studying GCSE Religious Studies. The CCEA textbooks provide the foundations for theses notes.
