Music is taught by both Music teachers at KS3 and is taught as a component of the Arts Curriculum, along with Art and Drama. Students will cover topics such as the elements of music, pulse and rhythm, African music, Live Aid and Live 8, the instruments of the orchestra, song-writing, rap, traditional music and the Blues and there will be many opportunities to take part in several activities as an improving musician and composer.
The main areas of the music curriculum focus on performing, composing and listening and appraising skills. Each unit of work includes elements of all of these main components in an progressive way, building on knowledge and skills sets to an increasingly more-advanced level.
