Welcome to The Edenderry Archive; a platform dedicated to preserving and showcasing the rich tapestry of Edenderry Primary School’s visual history. The Archive features a carefully curated collection of photographs dating from the 1970s capturing candid moments, significant events, and everyday life in the school through the decades. Each photograph tells a story, offering a glimpse into the past and a reminder of how far we’ve come.
Over 400 online images
For many years Edenderry Primary School has displayed various photographs on the school corridors, however, photographic displays in schools are less frequent now and very often, the people on display never get to see those images. When displayed, the images regularly become sun damaged and the people in them unrecognisable. So, we decided that there is now a better way to value the school’s rich history; a way that allows those who are part of that history, to relive their days at the school. So, one by one, our ICT Technician, Mr. Darryl Sloan, himself a past pupil from 1977 to 1984, set about carefully scanning them and adding them to this unique online platform that sits within the school website. Photography is more than just a medium; it's a portal to our memories and we wanted to create a space where people can properly explore these valued and nostalgic images and reconnect with the history captured within them.
So, past pupils and staff of Edenderry Primary School, we invite you to take a trip back in time. If you attended the school any time after 1970, there's a good chance you will find yourself and your school pals. The photos are organised by school year (September to June). In a few instances, we have relied on a best guess. Please let us know if you have more accurate information. You'll also encounter the Edenderry Star, the annual school magazine, filled with articles, poems and drawings by past pupils. Each page has been digitally preserved. Visit often, as the collection will grow over time. Enjoy!
