Challenge to Excellence will be offering an after-school STEM opportunity using a non-traditional robot called a“T-Bot II.”

What is a T-Bot?

The T-Bot^® II is a great project for illustrating hydraulic power and mechanics. See how syringes, tubes, and water work together to power the parts of this robotic arm. Each control moves one of the T-Bot II’s axes. The four controls can be used one at a time or all at once by a team of students – they can try basic maneuvers or moving objects as a team-building exercise!

What Will Students Do?

When coded correctly, a T-Bot II will perform a variety of tasks and challenges. By testing the T-Bots abilities, students discover the importance of simple machines and hydraulics in their world. In addition, students will explore mathematical concepts associated with hydraulics and simple machines.

Important Information:

• Days: Tuesdays, Nov. 9, 16, 30 Dec. 7

• Time: 3:00-5:00

• Cost: $170.00 (All students will take home their T-Bot II, a $55.00 value)

• Place: C2E STEM Lab

• Age: 5th-8th Grade

• Class Size Minimum: 6/Maximum: 12

What is Exploring Flight?

Students take a look at why birds fly and how Bernoulli’s principal explains how airplanes create lift.

What Will Students Do?

Students complete hands-on experiments including constructing basic and advanced paper and balsa wood gliders and build and fly a balloon powered helicopter.
