I was born and raised in Fountain, Colorado, and pursued my education at the University of Northern Colorado. For me, blue is the best color, and nothing beats the taste of caramel.
Art is my true passion—it's the language through which I express myself. I believe that a creative mind is an active mind, constantly solving problems and seeing the world from fresh perspectives.
In my free time, I enjoy wheel throwing pottery or being outdoors in the beautiful Colorado landscape.
I’m excited to teach your students not just how to make art, but how to develop a creative, problem-solving mindset that they can apply in all areas of life.

Extending Skills: 6th - 8th Grade
In our 6th-8th grade art program, students will advance their skills in drawing, painting, sculpting, and creative problem solving. Building on their foundational knowledge of the basic elements of art—line, shape, color, value, texture, space, and form—they will also explore the principles of art, such as balance, contrast, emphasis, movement, pattern, rhythm, and unity. By combining these core concepts with their own personal ideas, students will create more complex and meaningful projects that reflect their growing artistic voice.
Our curriculum also includes a deeper exploration of Art History, where students will study the works and techniques of influential artists from various periods and cultures. This exposure helps them understand the historical and cultural contexts of art while inspiring their own creative processes. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to watch demonstrations of new media and techniques, allowing them to experiment with a wider range of artistic tools and materials.
In alignment with the Colorado State Standards for Visual Arts for 6th-8th grade, our program emphasizes four key areas:
Create: Students will engage in the creative process by developing ideas, experimenting with materials, and refining their techniques to produce original artworks.
Present: They will learn to present their work effectively, considering audience, context, and purpose. This includes discussing their artistic choices and the meaning behind their work.
Respond: Students will enhance their ability to analyze and interpret art, both their own and others', by applying critical thinking skills and art vocabulary.
Connect: The curriculum will help students make connections between visual arts and other subjects, as well as between their art and their personal experiences, communities, and global perspectives.
Grades in this course will be based on the successful application and technique of media, the depth and originality of content, and active participation in all art room activities. By the end of the program, students will have developed not only their technical skills but also a deeper appreciation for art and its role in the world.
