Hi, I’m Karen, I am a Housing and Support worker, I started with CPG in May 2024. My role,
in a nutshell, is to support residents during their journey with us.
My working life began in Sports Centres, working as a lifeguard initially, then working up to
Duty Manager, overseeing the running of the centres. I had a spell of my life working as an
embroidery technician. Later in life I worked in primary schools, supporting children with
special educational needs as well as mainstream. I was a Thrive Practitioner in schools,
supporting the mental health and well being of children. More recently I have worked for
another charity supporting families in varying capacities.
Throughout my journey I have seen the impact of loneliness and isolation, and where I can, I
have wanted to help others, even if on a small scale. I believe somewhere there is someone
to help you, you do not need to be alone.
I am a member of the Men’s Shed, although I tend to make more of an appearance in the
summer, once the football season is over and help out at the summer events.
In my spare time I like to spend time with my family, go to the coast, visit new places and try
new foods.
