Getting an Instrument
Things to Consider
Used Instruments:
Don't overlook used instruments as an option. There are many quality, used instruments as options out there: on-line, friend of the family, relative, etc. When in doubt, email your child's teacher or consult an Instrument Repair Specialist (at any of the stores listed below)
Reliable Brands: Yamaha, Selmer, Bundy, Conn, Holton, King, Buffet, Gemeinhardt, Vito, Armstrong, Accent, Jupiter, Pearl
Strongly ADVISED AGAINST:
You have total freedom to obtain your child's band instrument wherever you choose. You are, however, strongly advised against purchasing "stock/generic/colorful" brand instruments. While it may be inexpensive initially, these instruments are not built to last. This advice is intended to spare you the cost of multiple repair bills and the frustrations of the younger musician dealing with an instrument that doesn't work properly.

There are 3 area music stores that offer instrument rental/lease programs. These stores have "road reps" that come to our schools each week to address the needs of customers and our classrooms.
