Welcome,

My name is Alexis McKee and I am a future educator. I am excited to begin my professional teaching journey and I am so excited to get to share part of my educational journey with you. This website is the culmination of all of the work I have put in for the past three years. Throughout this experience I have learned so much about the art and science of teaching, why education is important, and the kind of teacher that I want to be. My educational philosophy has been molded and shaped throughout my time in college and, at this point, I believe my educational philosophy can be best explained by this quote;

"The direction in which education starts a man will determine his future life." - Plato

That is not to say that I believe that any child who has a negative experience in school is doomed for life, rather, it is a statement of my belief that teachers can and do impact the lives of their students. Education is powerful and a teacher that instills a love of learning in his or her students, is a teacher that has set her students up for success in their future lives.

I also wanted to share a little bit about me; I am from San Diego, California (although, I have also lived in Northern California, Washington State, and Colorado). I have three brothers, ranging in age from twenty-six to seven and I love to spend time outdoors. When I am not in a classroom, I am hiking, fly-fishing, camping, or reading.
