In this program, students have the opportunity to create and fully develop their own product or service. Real entrepreneurs and business experts serve as volunteer coaches and mentors guiding student teams through the Lean Startup processes of developing hypotheses about a business concept, testing those hypotheses, adapting, and further iteration. The program also includes foundational business topics such as marketing and finance.
Roles:
Identify and vet Coach and Mentor candidates
Actively manage Coach/Mentor involvement throughout the year
Build momentum in the community
Act as a liaison and connecting point between the teacher and volunteer pool
Roles:
Teach in the classroom
Subject matter expert lending skills to teach a specific portion of the curriculum
In-class teaching
One or two day commitment per year
Volunteer Characteristics:
Engaging personality, authentic, passionate about their expertise
Excited to work with students and share their knowledge
Willing to practice
Comfortable prioritizing the most important concepts to teach
Corporate or entrepreneurial
Roles:
Offer the student team strategic guidance and wisdom throughout the school year.
Expectation of bi-monthly communication with the team is recommended (more is possible depending on the team's needs and point in the process)
Relationship begins at Unit 2 through Unit 8 and class culmination (Late September to May)
One mentor needed per student group
A very fulfilling role as you get to guide them through the lean start-up progress and see your group of students grow and improve throughout the year.

Group Ideation, Value Proposition, Customer Segmentation, Positioning, Marketing for startups, Market Sizing, Pricing, Financial Modeling, Legal, Basic Web/App Development, Writing and Implementation Planning, Storytelling, Marketing Plans, Sales Plans and Approaches, Financial Setup, & Funding Requests
Roles:
Offer teams strategic evaluation at Pitch events
Two in-class/after-school events - MVP Pitch & Final Pitch
Decision makers on funding for MVP and Final business investments
Volunteer Characteristics:
Experience running a business
Entrepreneurial background helpful
