Officer Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the school board are outlined in district policy. They include the hiring of the superintendent, delegate authority, provide oversight of human, financial, and facility resources, set policy and judicial review, collective bargaining, and community relations and advocacy. The school board also elects officers their general duties are generally outlined below and more specially detailed here.

Chair Duties

  • Develop agenda with superintendent
  • First point of contact with superintendent

Vice Chair Duties

  • Exists per district policy
  • Performs "Chair duties" during absence of Chair
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Chair or Board

Clerk Duties*

  • School district elections (notice, candidate filing, ballots, absentees, returns, results)

  • Keep records, make and issue reports (M.S. 123B.14, Subd. 7)
  • Draw orders for payments (M.S. 123B.14, Subd. 7)
