My Bio

Married and a father of two, 27 year old Michayla (pronounced Mishayla) and 22 year old Hunter, I spend my free time with my family. Michayla graduated from Gustavus in St. Peter, MN in 2015 from the school of nursing and is now an RN caring for babies in Phoenix, Arizona. Chayla is a recently retired gymnast, she competed both nationally and internationally in USA gymnastics and also competed in college. Dad is happy to have her slow down and graduated (with a job) after a few too many knee surgeries! Hunter is a big baseball fan. He played for the Scarlet Hawks of Illinois Tech in Chicago and then transferred to MN State Mankato where he graduated with a construction management degree last year. He is working as an engineer in Seattle, WA since August of 2020. This is my 32nd year teaching here in Byron, I feel lucky to have taught in just one school district. I'm not only a teacher, but also a coach working in the fall as Byron's Girls Soccer assistant coach and in the spring as the head coach for Byron Boys Golf. My other interests include baseball, golfing (of course), fishing, hunting and travel. We like to spend time boating at Cedar Lake outside of Faribault and up and down the Mississippi River. Hunter and I fish together in Canada every summer. We are also huge Twins and Vikings fans and try to get to a few games throughout the year. My wife and I own a gymnastics facility in Pine Island called KAATS Gymnastics that serves all ages of kids preschool through high school and into college. This place of business also made a fun play land for our own kids. What a great place to grow up!
