Purpose

The School Board recognizes any referendum must reflect the priorities of taxpayers. The purpose of the Byron Community Facilities Task Force (CFTF) is to analyze pertinent information and examine the use of existing space in the Byron Public Schools and consider additional space into the future. Therefore, the district is urging all residents to participate in a series of important district-wide meetings as the School Board prepares to make important decisions about future facilities and prioritize projects.

The meetings will be distributed across a variety of stakeholder groups: landowners, business owners, staff, community and parents. Click here for the dates and times.

The goals of the CFTF:

1. Achieve a thorough understanding of the capacity of existing spaces and the areas where space is available.

2. Advise the most appropriate use of current and future facilities to the Superintendent who will make recommendation to the School Board.

The activities of the CFTF:

  1. Review issues relating to the condition of the district's facilities and operations related thereto;
  2. Advise the Superintendent on building and facility related issues and planning of any long-term improvements;
  3. Follow Board policies related to finance and building issues; and
  4. Understand all decisions are the sole responsibility of the School Board.

The responsibilities of the CFTF may include:

  1. Serve as the liaison to representative stakeholders;
  2. Help plan for new construction, major renovations, or major improvements of school buildings and grounds; and
  3. Make recommends additions, deletions or changes to facilities needed to support school programs.
