Welcome back after the May half term. We only have 5 weeks left of the academic year and there are many exciting things like Sports Day, end of term reports, tray day, meet the new teacher day, farm visit to BPS, Byfleet's Got Talent and much more!
The children enjoyed a day of Archery last week, presented by Active Surrey. Read all about it below.
We hope the families who joined their child in school for a fun morning of SCIENCE today, had a good time. It was wonderful seeing so many parents join their children in classes.
This week we invited our new Reception children for September 2024 into school for their first induction day with their families. It was lovely to welcome them to BPS.
Year 1 - 4 Swimming lessons are going swimmingly!
We are pleased to have secured two more parent Reading Volunteers this half term. If you have a spare hour or so each week and keen to volunteer, please let Mrs Scott know.
If we can't go to the farm, then we bring the farm to BPS! The children enjoyed having the farm visit us for their annual BPS visit, where we turned our playground into a farmyard for the day. We didn't let the threat of rain spoil the children's fun and learning!
Happy Fathers' Day to all our wonderful male role models for our children. We hope you enjoyed the little gift sent home for you, compliments of our Friends of Byfleet.
Wishing all our Muslim families a happy Eid! Enjoy your celebrations. The children enjoyed watching a presentation about Eid from the Islam Society, Muslim Learner, on Friday.
If you are interested in hiring our school hall, a classroom, our outdoor hive or swimming pool for an event you may have in mind, don't hesitate to speak to Mrs Scott in the office who will be able to share our pricing details.

FARMS 2 EWE VISIT BPS!
We had a very special end to our second week back at school, by a visit from the travelling farm! Each year group had a safety talk from Farmer Dani and Hollie, followed by some extra lovely greetings from their animals. We had ducklings, chicks & hens, guinea pigs, a calf, a pony, lambs, the cutest pygmy goats and little mice come along to BPS to see us. What an amazing enrichment for our classes. Thank you to the farmers and all their animals. We hope to see them again soon.
Eiffel trail Archery
As part of the lead up to Paris 2024 Olympics, in conjunction with our virtual 'Path to Paris', all year groups took part in Target Games or Archery on Friday 7th June.
It was great to see the children engaging in an activity that they might see during the Olympics this summer and, for some children, that they hadn't tried before. All children enjoyed the day and the external company who ran the day commented on how well Byfleet Primary joined in.
The day was introduced with an 'opening ceremony' where values for the day were outlined; the day then ended with a 'closing ceremony' where the values were revisited with certificates and medals given to children who had shown these values. Well done to anyone who received a certificate or medal!
BPS children works with local Potter
We were incredibly lucky to have a visit from the Ottershaw Potter. She worked with a group of children from across the school to create bunting out of clay, to display the school values of ready, respectful and safe.

Attendance & Punctuality
Great news - our attendance is 96.06% for the year so far!
We continue to be on track for meeting our 96% target for the year!
Monthly Attendance winners:
September 98.85% Year 2
October 99.34% Year 2
November 97.91% Year 2
December 98.12% Year 4
January 97.17% Year 6
February 97.40% Year 6
March 97.91% Year 4
April 98.26% Year 2
May 98.37% Year 6
We talk a lot to the children about the importance of punctuality and attendance. During my routine daily walk around school last week, the Year 5 class spoke with me about them having 100% attendance for Week 2 of this term, which they were very proud of. This is remarkable, given that we've only had 3 classes this year with 100% attendance all week!
Well done Year 6! You had the highest attendance in May.
Enjoy sitting on the benches during assembly times.
