We were pleased to have welcomed Ofsted to BPS last week for a 3 day inspection. Thank you for your parent online views, and well wishes. We couldn't have been prouder of our BPS children, who had multiple opportunities to engage with the inspector through classroom observations, playtime visits, small group discussions and our House Captains did a great job of delivering a school tour for the inspector.
Well done to our lovely Year 4's who hosted their Assembly last week.
It was a real pleasure watching the fabulous Year 6 Production 'Peter Pan' this week. Our Year 6s did a sterling job of learning their lines, looked great in their costumes and sang their hearts out. Yet another excellent job from our Year 6 team. Well done everyone.
Mr Bowman took a group of Year 5's to New Haw Junior School, to take part in our annual Debate Mate competition. It was great to see our children take on some controversial topics as part of their debating and public speaking with such confidence.
One of the highlights of our year is welcoming Farms2Ewe back to BPS each summer. The children enjoyed their hands-on experience with a pony, calves, goats, chickens, rabbits, mice, gerbils and more today, as part of this farmyard experience. The joy on their faces is a picture to behold and worth every penny for the experience. Our Governors and the Chair of EEEa Trustee Board came along to see the children handling the animals and were astounded at the children's politeness, kindness and independence. We really are proud of our wonderful BPS children.
After months of planning and organising, we were pleased to be able to take on a rather ambitious whole-school trip to The Sculpture Park in Churt, to kickstart our #ArtWeek. The children had an absolutely brilliant time viewing over 100 outdoor sculptures, which has inspired them to create artwork of their own. Thank you to our families who attend today's first ever BPS Art Exhibition, celebrating our children's wonderful work and creativity. Whilst staff have worked hard behind the scenes to enable both events to go ahead, a special thank you goes to Mr Bowman for his meticulous organisation and planning of the transport, ensuring we were able to utilise minibuses to keep costs as low as possible for our families.
Our new Reception 2025/26 families and children enjoyed a Teddy Bear's picnic this afternoon as part of their induction day. We look forward to our new families joining us officially in September 2025.
Yr 4 looked fabulous in their Mayan costumes as part of their Wow Day last week. Thanks for your support at home with these costumes. Our children really do enjoy their Wow Days, which helps their 3Ps topics come to life.
Each term all classes learn a new poem off by heart. Yesterday we hosted our Poetry Recital assembly and it was heart-warming watching every child in the school recite their poem to the rest of the school. Encourage your child to share this with you at home...it's a real treat.
Reception Rainbows enjoyed their first swimming lessons this week. We look forward to sharing photos with Reception parents on 'Evidence Me' next week.
The children will be having their 'Meet the Teacher' day on Wednesday 2nd July. Please share the staffing update that was emailed yesterday, with your child(ren), in advance of this exciting day.
We look forward to welcoming you all to our Sports Day on Friday 4th July, which looks to be a warm day. Refreshments & snacks will be on sale so please support our Friends of Byfleet stall and help us raise valuable funds for our school.
If you are interested in hiring our school hall, a classroom, our outdoor hive or swimming pool (summer term only for the pool) for an event you may have in mind, don't hesitate to speak to Mrs Scott in the office who will be able to share our pricing details.

BPS ART EXHIBITION - FRIDAY, 27th JUNE AT 2PM
Some of the children's responses when asked about their favourite part of the recent sculpture park trip:
"The gorilla on the motorbike was my favourite, the bike was white with diamonds. I liked how the gorilla was pretending to be human." - Willow, Year 3
"There were lots of shiny balls that were all different sizes with gems inside. There were blue and pink ones but i liked purple the best." - Amaya, Year 4
"I noticed the dragon made from horse shoes because I learnt that they mean good luck when hung above a door." - Lewis, Year 5
"Looking at everything but mostly the football made of brick that was hiding in the bushes. It stood out to be because i love football." - Ralphie, Year 3
"There was so much artwork. I liked the statue of the woman with the big hair made of steel. It was just a large head with no body!" - Khiah, Year 6
"There were lots of materials. I noticed the landing spaceship - when you shouted inside it echoed." - Armani, Year 4
All the students had a fabulous time visiting the Sculpture Park in Farnham. There was an enormous variety of stunning artwork set in beautiful surroundings and we had the most fantastic weather! The children were really amazed at the different materials that were used to create the stunning pieces. It has definitely provided a huge amount of inspiration for today's BPS Art Gallery.
YEAR 2 KING'S LODGE CARE HOME VISIT
Last week, Year 2 went to visit the residents at King's Lodge Care Home. We had a lovely time doing art activities with them. It was a very hot afternoon, so we were all given an ice lolly to cool us down! The children were a delight to take and it was lovely listening to them chatting to the residents as they painted. .
YEAR 4 CLASS ASSEMBLY
Year 4 transported Byfleet back in time to 900CE in Central America. The children bought the history and Mayan culture to life with their assembly and vibrant costumes. It was educational, engaging and a great showcase of their hard work.
BPS Has Turned into a Farm for the Day
As part of your child's personal development, every year we invite The Farm back to BPS because our children (and staff!!) love it so much...
It brings us such joy watching the children petting the animals.
YEAR 4 TOPIC
In History, we have been learning about the Mayan Gods. Year 4 made triaramas to illustrate the temples and Gods.
YEAR 4 WOW Day
Year 4 had their 'WOW Day' based around 'The Mayans'. They participated in Mayan activities such as; cracking the code, Mayan maths, making chocolate, eating like a Mayan and played the Mayan ball game 'Pok-Ta-Pok'.
YEAR 6 PRODUCTION
Wow! Year 6 were amazing! This year group have been fantastic at everything they've done this year and their production of Peter Pan was no exception.
It's been a pleasure working with Year 6 to put this production together as they show never-ending enthusiasm.
They not only learnt their lines, but pronounced them with volume and expression when on stage. An especially big shout out to Harrison & Evie-Su for ensuring all the music, sound effects and background were played appropriately; as well as to Dixie-Belle and Erin for controlling the lighting.
A massive thank you to all parents/carers for your support: the costumes are brilliant and we know lots of children practised for hours at home.
Overall, we're incredibly proud of you, Year 6. Well done!
