This Week
The past couple of weeks at Byfleet Primary have been full of energy, learning, and community spirit. Thank you to everyone for your chocolate donations which will be sold at the Byfleet Light Switch On taking place next Thursday evening.
This week we marked Anti‑Bullying Week, beginning with the fun and colourful Odd Socks Day, where every pupil proudly wore their mismatched socks to celebrate individuality. The week concluded on Friday with inspiring presentations from our Year 5 Anti‑Bullying Ambassadors, who visited each class to share important messages. The theme this year, ‘Power for Good’, reminded us all how kindness and respect can make a real difference.
On Wednesday, we were delighted to welcome prospective parents for our upcoming Reception intake at Byfleet Primary’s third Open Morning. The event was a great success, with visitors enjoying guided tours and gaining a real sense of the warm, welcoming environment we are so proud of.
We kindly remind families to complete the required Data Collection Form. Keeping accurate and up‑to‑date records of pupil information and parental permissions is vital for the smooth running of our school. As a number of forms are still outstanding, we would be grateful if you could submit yours at your earliest convenience.
As the week comes to a close we are excited for the upcoming Year 6 Class Assembly next Wednesday, followed by the school disco on Friday. Tickets for the disco are available now through the Friends of Byfleet PTA website — don’t miss out on a fun evening for the children!

Year 2 visit from Surrey Fire and Rescue Service
Year 2 were lucky enough to have a visit from a member of The Surrey Fire and Rescue Service this week. They learnt how to stay safe in the event of a fire and even practised making a 999 call! The fire fighter who came said "It was a pleasure to visit your Year 2 class today to deliver our fire safety session. Your students really engaged with the session, and I hope that they will be more fire safe as a result!"
Breakdancing & Beatboxing Workshop
On Monday 10th November, all classes took part in a Breakdancing & Beatboxing Workshop. The children all participated in a whole-class assembly, which saw an amazing performance of where the skills they learn could progress to.
Each class took part in a workshop, which developed their breakdancing and beatboxing skills - it was great to see how engaged and excited the children were. The two coaches running the workshops were incredibly complimentary of how well behaved and eager to learn every child was, which we were very proud to hear.
Reception
What a busy and exciting couple of weeks we’ve had in Reception! We began by learning all about Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder Plot. The children enjoyed hearing the story and talking about why we celebrate Bonfire Night today. Our classroom has been filled with sparkle as we created beautiful firework-themed artwork, used glitter and paint to make explosions of colour, and even wrote our own firework sound words.
In maths, we have been exploring 2D shapes, learning their names and describing their properties. We’ve also been practising our positional language, using words like under, next to, and between to describe where things are. In phonics, we have learned the new sounds j, w, and v, and have been practising reading and writing words that include them.
We’ve also started our exciting new topic all about the Arctic. The children have loved discovering that the Arctic is made up of eight countries and exploring what life is like there. We’ve enjoyed small world play and dressing someone for an Arctic adventure. We have also compared the Arctic to the UK, noticing the differences in landscapes . What fantastic learning!
Anti-Bullying Week
On Monday, the children and staff at Byfleet Primary took part in celebrating Odd Sock Day—a fun, light-hearted event where everyone wears mismatched socks to embrace individuality and raise awareness about anti-bullying. Every child also had the opportunity to design their own odd sock, creating a colourful display that celebrated what makes each of them unique.
This year, the theme for Anti-Bullying week is "Power For Good", It was explained that each childs individuality can be used as a power. One of the activities was for each child to creat a pledge explaining how they could use their power.

READING VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
At BPS, we are lucky enough to have several reading volunteers who come into school to read with the children. These volunteers are linked to particular year groups and support the children in acquiring this key skill. However, there are some year groups who don't yet have a reading volunteer. If you, or someone you know, could offer a regular session, please get in touch with Mrs Mumby, via the school office.
