RECEPTION RAINBOWS
This week, the children have completed their first full week in Reception, and they have settled in brilliantly. They have been busy learning the rules and routines that help keep our classroom a happy and safe place. Phrases like “Stop, I don’t like it” and “Choose it, use it, put it away” are becoming familiar, and the children are beginning to use them confidently. They have enjoyed exploring the different areas of the classroom, from the creative corner to the construction zone, learning how to use the resources properly and share with others. It has been lovely to see new friendships starting to form as they get to know one another. We are especially proud of how well they have managed their lunches — showing great independence and trying new foods. It’s been a fantastic start, and we are excited to watch them continue to grow and thrive in the weeks ahead.
RECEPTION PARENTS WELCOMED BY MRS MEYRICK & THE GOVERNORS
It was lovely welcoming our new Rainbow Class parents to a meet and great event with Mrs Meyrick and the Governors this week. It was a pleasure to meet you all and be able to introduce ourselves.
It was a good opportunity to share some of our plans and Miss Taylor enjoyed sharing information about what to expect for the year ahead in the Curriculum Information evening. The presentation can be found above.
YEAR 5 MATHS
Year 5 have kicked off their Autumn term in Maths by exploring Roman Numerals! They've been learning how to read, write, and understand numbers in this ancient number system, building a strong foundation for place value work. Here is Ezra showcasing her fantastic learning. A brilliant example of careful thinking and presentation in her maths book. Well done, Ezra!
PLEA FOR MISSING BOOKS
Sadly, we are missing many of the phonically decodable books. These books are organised in sets, so that groups of children can read the same book across the week. Some of our sets only have 1 or 2 books remaining. These missing books, make it very difficult to manage the three reading sessions Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 have each week. Please do take some time this weekend to search at home for them. They will have one of these logos on the cover:
