Conflict Management and Resolution is the extention level subject for the Diplomacy elective.
Students will learn to analyze, manage, resolve, and prevent conflicts. They will learn what a conflict is, how to identify its underlying issues and how to re-frame it so as to be able to generate options for its resolution.
As part of the Conflict Management and Resolution studies, students will study applicable psychological and social theories, which they will use in group decision-making.
In addition to theories and case studies, students will participate in forums outside their classrooms, and will learn how to apply the knowledge they gained to various contexts.
Conflict Management and Resolution is studied in years 11 and 12 and contains the following units:
Year 11
Unit 1: Conflict: Who, What, Where, and Why?
Unit 2: Conflicts Between Myself, My Family, and My Friends.
Unit 3: Conflicts Within & Between Groups
Unit 4: Intra-national & International Conflicts
Year 12
Unit 5: Conflict Transformation
Unit 6: Performance Based Project
Final group project submitted - June 2024
