What is PBIS?

It is an organized, data driven system of interventions and strategies that address school-wide and individualized behavior planning by utilizing research and data-based information to maintain up-to-date best practice strategies.

Why did greenfield choose to implement PBIS?

Using PBIS assists us in increasing our capacity to understand and effectively respond to problematic behaviors and helps us develop a structure for reducing frequent minor behavior issues by fostering a positive and preventative approach. PBIS positively impacts our school culture through the nurturing of a unified, systematic approach and philosophy for working with children in an environment which all children can learn and thrive.

What are 'hawk' tickets?

When a teacher sees a positive behavior (helpful, accountable, willing, kind) from a student the behavior can be reinforced with a HAWK ticket. These tickets are collected in a bucket within each classroom. Tickets are pulled throughout the year for various awards and incentives.

What is the pbis team?

The two PBIS teams are made up of teachers and a parent representative who work hard throughout the school year to support the use of PBIS at Greenfield. Tier one team works on universal systems and implementation, evaluates its effectiveness and impacts on students, analyzes data, and shares needs and successes with students, staff, and families. The tier two team works to provide individualized interventions for students who need more social/behavioral support in order to be successful at school.
