*Please be sure to check your child's binder for daily home practice. Weekly literacy newsletters will come home in your child's binder. Math newsletters will be updated in binders as we finish topics/units and move on to the next one.

Things to help carry it over at home:

• Literacy

  • • practice spelling CVCe words (silent -e, writing cap, but what happens to the "a" when you add an e...cape)

    • Go on a nature walk and identify signs of spring. Identify the vowel sound in the different objects you find (when you find green grass, long e for green and short a for grass)

    • writing "How To's" 

      • practice having your child verbalize the steps of things they know how to do (brush teeth, make their bed, put jacket on, etc.)

• Math

  • • shapes (Click here for our shape songs!)

      • go on a shape hunt in the house and/or outside looking for 2D & 3D shapes

      • practice making other shapes from familiar 2D shapes

      • identify # of sides & vertices of different shapes

• Social Sciences:

  • • ecosystems

• Fine Motor & Life Skills

  • • Practice shoe tying 

    • practice drawing different shapes with chalk

Other Announcements:

• Rest blankets are coming home and are no longer needed for the remainder of the year.

• Share Day: Read the story about shapes together. Then your child will complete a page in our classbook by making something out of a shape of their choice. For show and share we will be sharing our completed recycling project. Don't forget to send in a healthy snack for the class.

• Home activities tab has been updated in your child's binder. These are optional activities specific to your child that you can work on together at home.
