Meet the Spanish Team

Miss Tapinassi

I am Miss Tapinassi, teacher of Spanish at Bullers Wood School for Boys.

I am Italian and I graduated in Modern Foreign Languages in 2010, with specialization in Spanish, Portuguese and English. I have also studied French up to A Levels. I have a passion for teaching Languages and my experience started immediately after my A Levels (Diploma, in Italian), when I spent one year in Brazil teaching English while, in the meantime, I was deepening my knowledge of Portuguese.

When I moved to the UK, I started to work in a secondary school and to experience what teaching Languages (both Spanish and French) is like at KS3 and KS4.

I am proud to be part of the Bullers Wood Boys team of teachers who had the pleasure of seeing the school being finally born in 2018, when we only had Year 7 boys. My main goal, as a teacher, is to try and transmit my passion for languages (Spanish) to my students. I believe that it is very important for everyone to have the chance of studying another language, although not all of us were born linguists. Learning a foreign language can help us understand our own language and speaking more than one language increases our brain capacity so we can have better memory too. It’s an impressive achievement to being able to speak Spanish and students will have better options for their future. Learning Spanish at Bullers Wood School for Boys will be a formative and enjoyable educational path.

In my spare time, I love spending time with my family doing outdoors activities, travelling, and practicing martial arts.

Mr Alarcon-Carretero

I am Mr Alarcon or Señor Alarcón as many of my students tend to name me. I teach Spanish at Bullers Wood School for Boys. Over the last couple of years I have been teaching Spanish GCSE in Crawley and before training as a MFL teacher I worked in hospitality as a waiter but mainly as a chef.

I consider that my role as Spanish teacher goes beyond teaching my mother tongue language. I enjoy showing my students the links between Spanish and English so they can learn a new one while improving their own one. At the same time, I tend to bring aspects of my culture into the lessons so the students can broaden their minds.

And what about myself? Well, I like sports, especially when they are practised in group. As a good Spaniard I like playing football but I also enjoy running and cycling. I do love reading a good book and I am fascinated by anything related with history or archaeology.
