School Counselor

I have been supporting families for 18 years as a school counselor, teacher and psychotherapist. I earned my undergraduate degree at the University of Colorado, Boulder in 2001 in psychology. After several years of teaching I went on to earn my Masters degree in Social Work at the University of Maryland in 2006 where I specialized in clinical psychotherapy with children and families. Since graduation I have been providing counseling support to children, adolescents and adults in a variety of clinical settings including schools, hospitals and private practice.

I have two elementary age children at Whittier and personally found the transition to motherhood required me to grow more than any other stage in my life. The expectations of parenthood often do not match the reality and this can leave parents feeling overwhelmed and underprepared. I enjoy helping caregivers navigate parenting in a supportive non-judgemental space.

I maintain my own mental health by spending time with my husband and two young sons, trail running, practicing yoga, hiking, biking, skiing, and really doing anything outdoors in the beautiful Colorado mountains. Please call or email me to connect. You can reach me via email at annie.dornbush@bvsd.org or phone 720-561-2464
