Technology in 3rd Grade

Maker Mondays

    • We have had 4 Maker Mondays where students have been introduced to new Technologies
      • Ozobots
        • Ozoblockly -- students follow puzzles within the Ipad App and then transfer the program to the Ozobot by calibrating it on the screen. The Ozobot then runs the program.
      • Hour of Code Week
        • Ozobots
        • Bitsbox
        • Code.org
      • Dash Robots
        • students completed challenges on Blockly for Dash Robots to learn hour to use scratch coding. This also can be transfered to Ozobots (drag and drop coding).
      • Cubelets
        • students explored and were introduced to Action and Sensing Cubelets -- where certain cubes would light up or move depending on the sesnsor cubelet and how close or far away and object is to the sensors.
  • We are starting an amazing cross-curricular project where students will code on Bitsbox.com, and depending on the code they choose, they will then write a story about their coding and the characters in their coding project -- then they will illustrate in their Art Specials with Mrs. Sehnert and they will then create a online book with their writing, coding and illustrations.
    • they will be using the folliowing programs in their project
      • Screencastify
      • Google Doc/Drive
      • Bitxbox
      • Bookcreator

Maker Monday

Cubelets in Ms. Ritche's room!

Maker Moday

Exploring the Ozoblockly App and coding with Ozobots!

Cross Curricular Project

Artwork!

Students did rough draft sketches in Art with Mrs. Sehnert and she photocopied the art -- the students then tried different types of materials to see which ones would be the best for their cover!

More Art!

More examples of the student's using markers, paint, colored pencils, chalk, and even crayons to create their best cover for their book!

Students working on their code, and learning how to take a screen capture of their code and also record their screens as their code runs. Students also learned how to name documents, create a folder and move documents into that folder on their Google Drive.
