Meet our Teacher Librarian

I am delighted to say that I have been teaching at Superior Elementary since its opening year in 1996! In my teaching career, I have taught first, second, third grades, and Title I reading, and after the pandemic, I can add Kindergarten to the list. This will be my sixth year as Teacher Librarian, and I consider this to be the ultimate job as I work with every grade level and learn new tools and technology alongside the students and teachers. I graduated with my Master’s degree in Literacy from the University of Colorado. In 2009, I received my National Board Certification in Early and Middle Childhood Literacy. I then earned my Principal's License through the University of Colorado Denver and served as the interim assistant principal at Eldorado K-8 in the Fall of 2015. I truly enjoy teaching at Superior Elementary with motivated teachers, students, and families. This is an amazing place for kids to grow and learn!

I am a fourth generation Colorado native and grew up in Golden, not too far from Superior! I have been married since 1993, and my family and I live in Louisville. My husband, Arlie, a former scientist at NCAR, is now the CTE Director in BVSD. We have a son, "E", who loved being a student at Superior Elementary many years ago and is now working on his PhD in math at the University of Michigan. In my free time (which mostly occurs in the summer), I love to hang out with my family, read, travel, hike, and cook! During the school year, I absolutely love shopping for books for the library and often have specific readers in mind as I select books.
