About the program

The Battle of the Books is a reading incentive program in elementary, middle, and high schools across the country. Team Managers guide students in grades 3-­12 to form teams and read the same set of books. Ryan will have a 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade team. The goal of the program is to increase our students' love and level of reading. We will meet weekly as a grade level team during school hours for practice sessions. In February, there will be a quiz to determine who is on the Battle Team. Five Battle Team members from each grade will compete against other BVSD schools, and show their knowledge of the books by answering questions about those books during a competition on March 28, 2026. All other team members are still included in practices. There will be a celebration of reading with a lunch pizza party in May for team members who read all 6 books.
