Orton Gillingham (OG) is a structured, sequential, multi-sensory approach to teaching phonics and spelling. At Mesa Elementary, many of the teachers have been trained in an OG approach and incorporate it into their daily instruction. OG based instruction is effective for students at all ability levels, including students with dyslexia. OG based teaching methods can be adapted for whole group, small group, or individual instruction.
