What is Incarceration?
Incarceration- confinement in a jail or prison: the act of imprisoning someone or the state of being imprisoned. Defenition by Merriam Webster
Basically, Incarceration is being in prison or putting someone else in jail
Incarceration Rates
Incarceration rates are how many people go to jail per unit of time. Different continents, countries, states, and even cities all have different rates. Some places have higher rates of people imprisoned and some have lower.
As you can see, the United States has the highest rate of people incarcerated (imprisoned) in the whole world.
Why is This a Problem?
As you can see from the graph, there is more than 2 million people in jail currently. What we are trying to do is provide ways for these numbers to go down through various tactics and strategy.
