THIS WEEK: Women in Science!
3.13.26 The library recently hosted Ms. GWest and Ms. Brinza’s science classes for an exciting visit from Maggie Wolf, Outreach and Education Specialist with My Nature Lab.
Students experienced hands-on learning with live reptiles and amphibians, bringing Colorado science standards to life in an engaging and memorable way. The program’s goal is to educate, inspire, and spark creativity while helping students build meaningful connections with the natural world.
Through interactive exploration and up-close encounters with animals, students were encouraged to develop curiosity about ecosystems, biodiversity, and the importance of caring for our environment. Programs like this help foster a deeper appreciation for science and inspire a lifelong love of learning.
Shout-Out to Monarch 12U Baseball!
A huge congratulations to the Monarch Coyotes 12U for winning their first tournament championship of the season! 🏆
This victory was powered by teamwork, encouragement, and outstanding sportsmanship. The players showed what it means to support one another and represent their team with pride both on and off the field.
We’re especially proud that so many of the team members are LMS 6th graders:
Boom, Ethan, Jack, Jax, Jenner, Keenan, Kendall, Michael, Milo, and Nate!
At LMS, we celebrate more than what happens in the classroom. What our students do on weekends and outside of school is a big part of what makes them unique, passionate, and special. Way to represent your school and your community, Coyotes!

Johnna VanIwarden
Hi Pirates! 👋 I’ve been teaching since 2008, and I’m so lucky to spend my days surrounded by books (and readers like you!) here in the library.
I’m originally from the little but mighty state of Rhode Island, where I love heading back with my husband and two middle-schoolers to enjoy the beach, eat way too much seafood, and revisit my favorite childhood spots.
Fun fact: I moved to Colorado for law school, earned my degree, and discovered that my true passion was helping others learn. My heart has always been with books, research, and learning. Now I get to spend my days helping students find books they can’t put down, solve research mysteries, and make the library a place everyone wants to hang out.
See you in the library!
