Because reading gives us freedom.
When books are banned, voices are silenced and perspectives disappear.
Banned Books Week reminds us that every reader deserves choice, and every story—especially the uncomfortable ones—helps us grow, question, and imagine a better world.
Made from banned and recycled pages by Ms. VanIwarden and sixth grade students, these wings remind us:
Words have power.
Stories can’t be silenced.
Books help us rise above fear and ignorance.
Reading lets us see from new heights.
How has a book ever changed the way you think?
What story made you feel seen or understood?
What book would you recommend to help others see the world differently?
