Academics

In second grade we work towards the transition from learning to read to reading to learn. We accomplish this through direct whole group instruction, small group instruction, and independent practice. We will use the Into Reading curriculum to structure our reading lessons. 

Second grade writers become more sophisticated with developing their craft. Writing is always a  fun time for self-expression. We will follow the Into Reading curriculum to support our writing instruction as well.

Second Graders will have a daily "campfire" to build community. We use a Peace Place to practice our problem solving with peers, and a Cozy Corner for the times when we need it. Ms. Suzy supports our SEL development with lessons from Second Step.
