Hi, from Jennifer Haxton! I have been teaching since 1993, but did take off a few years to be home with my son, Aidan, a Fireside alum.
My husband and I lived in New Delhi, India from 2000-2004 where we taught in an international school. Aidan also spent his first year in New Delhi. I have taught all grade levels at the elementary level except for KG! I have been teaching at Fireside since 2009 and I truly enjoy 3rd grade. I am looking forward to getting to teach and learn with your children this year.
It has been a pleasure teaching at this amazing school for 14 years and I plan on staying for another 14 if they let me! I'm a Colorado native and a graduate of Fairview High School and Regis University. After graduating High School, I spent 5 years in the Air Force followed by nearly 2 decades in the service industry. I joined the teaching profession in 2010 and haven't looked back since. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy live music and theater and hanging out with my partner, my sons and my bevy of assorted pets.
I am thrilled to be returning to Fireside! I began my teaching career on the third grade team at Fireside and am returning to this wonderful community as I enter my tenth year of teaching. The first decade of my career was primarily spent teaching 5th grade at Whittier Elementary in BVSD. I am excited to be back to the place where my love of teaching began.
I have lived in Colorado my whole life with the exception of receiving my undergraduate degree at Washington and Lee University in Virginia. In 2017, I received my Master's Degree from CU in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education. When I am not in the classroom you can find me outside spending time with my husband, my two children, and our dog Maple. I enjoy art, dancing, writing, and exploring the outdoor playground that we are blessed to call home. I am grateful to be joining this amazing community and am honored to work with your kid this year!
