Head Coach- Emily Austin The 2025-26 season will be my 28th year coaching the Eagles!!
I started out as the assistant coach for Broomfield in 1998 & took over the head coaching role for the 2000-01 season. A lot has happened during that time- it's been quite the ride, and it's ALWAYS a Great Day to Be an Eagle! I am also the head coach of the Broomfield boys team:)
Degrees: BA in Community Health Ed from the University of Northern Iowa; Masters in Athletic Administration from the University of Northern Colorado.
Beginnings: I started swimming competitively in the 4th grade. I swam for my high school team all 4 years- in Marshalltown, IA. I held several school and conference records & I was named team captain as a senior. During the summers I swam for the city team, & I swam for the YMCA in the winters. I then joined the team at the University of Northern Iowa & swam there for 4 years, setting school & conference records & earning my captain patch. I moved to Greeley right after graduation to start an internship, then work towards my Masters Degree.
Life outside of coaching: I have 2 amazing kids- Lane was a 2023 graduate from Colorado Mesa University where he was a league champ, All-American swimmer & team captain. Kaylee is a Broomfield HS grad (class of '22- swam all 4 years) who is currently a senior at CU Boulder. My husband Chad and I will be celebrated 30 years of marriage in May 2025. We started dating as seniors in high school. We have an amazing 3year old 70lb. mixed-breed black & white doggo with beautiful blue eyes- Kodak is a very good boy. When I'm not coaching I'm out walking, planning something swim-team related, hanging with my husband or friends or working at Lululemon. I have worked part-time in one retail job or another since I started coaching:)
Head BVSD Diving Coach- Jessica Ebert, starting her 3rd year this season!
I started diving when I was 13 after having dabbled in gymnastics for ~6/7 years. This led me to diving as a walk on at Syracuse University while I was an undergraduate. Unfortunately while I was there they cut their swimming and diving program. When I started my MS at CU I discovered that they had a club diving team and rediscovered my love for the sport. When the coach at the time had to leave I took over and coached CU club diving for ~5 years (Fall 2012- Spring 2018). During that time I also coached a season of BVSD (2013-2014), which was only Boulder and Fairview at the time. After a break from coaching to get my career in a good place I started coaching BVSD Dive in Fall 2023.
Degrees: BS. Environmental Engineering from Syracuse University; MS. Civil Engineering, focus in Environmental/Water from CU Boulder; Masters Environmental Law and Policy from Vermont Law School
Career: During my full time job I work as a Water Resources Engineer at Denver Water with a focus on water rights. Water rights in Colorado are a unique system when compared to other parts of the US and are used to control the amount of water used and the ways that it can be used in the state.
Life outside Coaching: I grew up near Buffalo, NY and I am a huge Buffalo Bills fan and try to get to a game every year. I love cats and have two named Oliver and Monty. I enjoy getting outside to do things like river trips, paddleboarding, camping, and backpacking. I play on a softball team in Boulder during summer and spring. I also enjoy time hanging out at home and doing crafts. I like to knit and crochet and recently finished my first pair of hand knit socks!
Assistant Swim Coach- Gillian Cullen, starting 2nd year with the 25-26 season!
I earned my bachelor’s degree from Western Colorado University in Gunnison Colorado which is where I also earned my masters degree in High Altitude Exercise Physiology. I am a Broomfield alum, I swam all four years and loved every second! I moved back to the front range last year. I started my coaching journey as an assistant swim coach at Frederick High School. Outside of coaching I work as a medical assistant at Kaiser Permanente. Outside of both of these things, I love to swim, run, do yoga and spend time with friends and family!
