Since 2008 Coach Dunn has piloted the Eagles, as head coach, to an overall record of 259-154, three conference championships, and two Final Four finishes. He has twice been named Conference Coach of the Year and once named a coach for the Colorado High School Coaches Association All-State Games. Coach Dunn earned two letters in basketball at Poudre High School and was part of a state quarterfinal team in 1995. He also earned three letters and two All-Conference awards for the Impalas football team. Beginning his coaching career in 1997 with the Junior Impalas Basketball Club in Ft. Collins, Coach Dunn also spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Poudre and another working in the athletic department at the University of Idaho. In 2002, Coach Dunn was hired as a social studies teacher at Broomfield High School and has since coached the Freshman, C, and JV teams and served as a varsity assistant at Broomfield. He was a member of the coaching staff during Broomfield's 2004 State Championship, and three additional Final Four appearances in 2006, 2007 & 2008. In his career, he has served as a staff member at numerous basketball camps and has been the director of the Big Blue Basketball Camp since 2008. He has also helped to run camps and coach games against European club teams in both Germany & France as a part of tours with News Release Basketball. As a teacher at Broomfield, Coach Dunn has taught Government, Geography, World History, U.S. History, and AP U.S. History. He has also taught concurrent U.S. History through Front Range Community College. He is a graduate of the University of Wyoming (B.A. in Geography). In addition, he has earned degrees from both the University of Northern Colorado (M.A. in History) and from Gettysburg College (M.A. in History). Coach Dunn is married to his wife, Jennifer. His family also includes two sons, Josh & Caleb. Josh was an All-State performer in football and track, earned All-Conference honors in basketball for the Eagles, in addition to lettering in Soccer his junior year. He is now a collegiate athlete at Black Hills State University. In football, Caleb has lettered three times and earned All-Conference honors for the Broomfield football team. He was also a part of Broomfield's 2022 and 20224 State Championship football teams. Caleb is also a two-time letter winner in basketball for the Eagles.
Justin Berry, C Team Coach
Coach Berry is a second-generation Broomfield alumnus who returned to Broomfield as a coach in 2023. Watching the Eagles compete while he was growing up, Broomfield is the place where Coach Berry first fell in love with the game of basketball. He would earn two varsity letters for the Eagles basketball team, in addition to playing AAU with the Colorado Titans under Coaches Bob Olds and Rick Jimenez. After high school, Coach Berry matriculated to Northwest Kansas Technical College in Goodland, Kansas, where he played for two seasons with the Mavericks while earning an associate's degree.
Duke Kell, Freshman Coach
Coach Kell returned to coach at his alma mater in 2023. As a student-athlete at Broomfield, Coach Kell competed in football, basketball, and track. As a basketball player for Coach Rick Wolfe, Coach Kell was a starting center for teams that reached both the Sweet 16 and the quarterfinals of the State Tournament. On the football field, Coach Kell started at Tight End for three years under Coach Gary Davies, reaching the round of 16 of the State Playoffs all three seasons. His efforts on the gridiron, Coach Kell was named 1st Team All-Conference three times, earning 1st Team All-State honors his senior year. As a track athlete for Coach Bobby Fielder, Kell competed in the high jump, pole vault, and discus. Coach Kell played football collegiately at the University of Wyoming, the University of Northern Colorado, and the University of La Verne in California. He started at five different positions and played in over 36 games during his college career. After completing his degree at La Verne, Coach Kell began his teaching career at Eagle Summit High School in California, where he was an assistant varsity coach for boys basketball for two years and head coach for two years, winning two league championships in that time. Coach Kell then moved to Kona, on the island of Hawaii. In Hawaii, he coached volleyball, basketball, and track over a 16-year period. He currently teaches mathematics at Riverdale Ridge High School in Thornton, Colorado.
Dusty Wadlington, Varsity Assistant Coach
Coach Wadlington has been a member of the Eagles program since the 2021-22 season. A highly decorated high school and college player, he is a member of the Hall of Fame for both Washington High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Iowa Lakes Junior College in Estherville, Iowa. While at Iowa Lakes he helped to take his team to the NJCAA National Tournament. He still holds season and career records in steals and assists at Iowa Lakes, and scored almost 1,000 points in his two seasons there. He continued his basketball career at Morningside University, where he was an All-Conference player and also set records for steals and assists. Coach Wadlington finished his collegiate career at the University of Denver, where, as the shortest point guard in Division I, he led DU to the Summit League Tournament semi-finals. He returned to Iowa Lakes as an assistant coach from 2004 to 2007 before returning to the Denver area. He was the head coach at KIPP Denver from 2014 to 2017. He has also worked as an assistant at Kent Denver and Northglenn High School. He currently works as a trainer at Lifetime Fitness. He holds a BA in Communications from Morningside University. His son, Jack, was an all-conference player at Broomfield and holds the school record for assists in a game (17).
Joe Zufall, Junior Varsity Coach
Coach Zufall joined the Eagle program as a varsity assistant in 2020. After competing in basketball at South High School in Pueblo, Colorado, he played basketball at the Colorado School of Mines, where he graduated with a double major in Civil and Mechanical Engineering in 2003. As a collegiate athlete, he earned three letters with the Men's Basketball program competing for the Orediggers in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference from 1999-2002. Coach Zufall has coached competitive youth teams since 2004. Additionally, he has provided group and individual basketball skill training since 2014. His son, Ethan, was a three-time letterman and All-Conference performer in Basketball for the Eagles. Ethan also pitched for the Broomfield Baseball team.
