Kelly Carmichael - Director of Choirs (She/Her)
Kelly Carmichael is the Director of Choirs at Boulder High School. Ms. Carmichael grew up in Arvada, Colorado and joined every music group she possibly could. She earned a Bachelor's degree from The University of Northern Colorado in Music Education and a Masters degree in Music Education with an emphasis in ethnomusicology from The University of Colorado-Boulder. She began her education career in 2016 at Challenger Middle School in Academy District 20, where she taught for three years. In 2019 one of her choirs here was asked to perform at the Colorado Music Educators Association conference, one of the highest honors a choir can receive. Ms. Carmichael currently holds the co-chair position on the Colorado Middle School All State Choir Board and has been a member of the board since 2016. Ms. Carmichael has a strong passion for middle school and high school choral music and students and her choirs are appreciated for their commitment and execution of excellent music, their teammates, and the joy we share in the classroom. She is proud of her students everyday, even on the hard days, and she loves working at Boulder High with such wonderful colleagues who share her passion for education.
Hanna Aparo - Accompainist (She/Her)
Hanna Aparo developed a love for the piano starting at the age of six. She graduated Summa Cum Laude at San Francisco State University and completed a Masters degree in piano performance at California State University- Fullerton where she studied with Eduardo Delgado. She has participated in solo piano and chamber music master classes with artists including Gabriela Montero, Akiko Ebi, Robert Koenig, the Alexander String Quartet, Czech Nonet, Martha Masters, Alvaro Pierri, and Sergio Assad.
In addition to solo performing, she works as a collaborative pianist and maintains her own private studio in Boulder.
